Lukkøye

Lukkøye, the dancer between the sandy dunes of dreams whose task in the unconscious is to capture stray Mares in her golden beads. Is she the controller of Mares who plants the seeds in your subconscious sandy dunes for a lesson about your life, or is she the dreamcatcher of Mares grown out of control? Perhaps she is the dreamer?

As someone who are very fascinated with dreams, I wanted to create a character who takes from a Dreamcatcher I had above my bed during my childhood, who helped me find peace in darker dreams. The umbrella like shape of her dress nods to the children stories of Lukkøye in my culture, and the sand in your eyes when you wake is a sign of Lukkøye putting you to sleep. I wanted to try and capture the feeling of dreaming in one character.

Lukkøye, she dances through dreams and captures the wild mares.

The sand, the building blocks of dreams, in which she was birthed. The wings, a flutter of them allows her to jump between Mares.
The Soul beads, souls of Mares captured in a golden bead that she carries in her net.

I woke up from a nap with this pillow imprint on my cheek. I imagined the followers of my previous Dreamcatcher character, Lukkøye, to have nap imprint scarification like this praying Dreamer.
